I got it in my 'all pokemon' tab but not in my main team... Do we have to finish all the legendary to get legends in our team even tough we buy them?

I bought a dark zapdos in poke auction but cant find in my main team , I have only 1 pokemon in my main roster , I have not completed elite4 or gyms..Please help me.
