For example, it's programmed to walk for you, and catch Pokémon for you. This would mean the player themselves does not play the game. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's intended to be difficult to find Legendaries, and way more difficult to find Ultra Beasts, just as an example. By using a program to do it for you, you remove that difficulty, therefore a large portion of the satisfaction of obtaining such a Pokémon. I'm not saying obtaining a Legedary via a program cannot be satisfying, but using such programs does defeat the purpose of the game. The example I gave is just one of the many reasons. Basically, it's using bots to grind exp or other benefits. This isn't allowed as not everyone will have access to this kind of system.
