Dartixx
I just wanted to report that live maps blank out when switching tabs, but it happens every time, so it is okay. But, after blanking out, the pokemon spawn stays there, but when I encountered shadow kubfu after weeks of hunting, it did not remain the same when I clicked 'battle' and switched tabs. The map blanked out and it was gone, but this does not happen for other rare/common spawns. So please fix it. 1

Developer flamescape Posted September 30, 2020 Developer Share Posted September 30, 2020 7 hours ago, Dartixx said: live maps blank out when switching tabs This is intentional. When you switch tabs, your browser pauses (or slows down) the game. Browsers use this technique to help save CPU & battery life by only spending system resources on tabs which are open/visible. We cannot turn this feature off. Once you switch back, the game should return to running at normal speed, but, the game is now out of sync with the server. The "blank out" is what happens when the game tries to re-synchronise your browser with the server. 7 hours ago, Dartixx said: it did not remain the same when I clicked 'battle' and switched tabs. The map blanked out and it was gone This is possible. If you switch tabs AFTER clicking "Battle" but BEFORE the browser takes you to the next page, then you can lose your encounter if you don't switch back to the map tab within 3 seconds. Unfortunately, there are 2 techincal reasons why this cannot be fixed right now: As mentioned above, the way modern browsers work by "pausing" the game in a background tab will interrupt communication with the server, which in turn will lead to a resynchronisation if you don't switch back within approximately 3 seconds, causing the encounter to reset. (Note: If you haven't pressed "battle" yet, then the encounter will be reinstated after re-synchronisation). As an anticheat measure, once you press "Battle", the encounter responsibility is passed from the map system to the wild battle system in a way that cannot be reversed. If your browser fails to navigate to the battle page within a reasonable amount of time, then the encounter will be forever lost. This is to prevent cheaters from finding a pokemon once and repeatedly battling (& catching) the same encounter over and over again. Due to these complexities, it may take some time to fix this bug.
