Answered encountered a wild Mystic Xurkitree lvl 75 and was not caught using master ball?

i am battling it and used a master ball and it escaped (i could not attack when that happened) and i tried it again. is there a glitch or something with this?  (lvl 75) and master ball x 4 used and lost  3,693

Xurkitree is an Ultra Beast.
Ultra Beasts can only be caught using a Beast Ball or a Vortex Ball.
