No, I think is a great idea for player activity 

 

it doesn't mean you will get a Pokémon for free but for example, 

 

day 1: learn about the community (link your account with the forum) 

day 2: Search for Pokemons and catch them

etc etc 

 

and if you completed each day you will get a checkmark and at the end of 7 days, you will get an achievement "Trainer passport"
