  1. Rhyming Story

Yay, another story thread. :) This time, lets create a story that rhymes. The rules are simple:

    • Everyone writes two lines and the last word in each sentence need to rhyme.
    • Plz have no one dying like, two posts into it. And keep it clean.

I reserve the right to change your post if it's crap / doesn't rhyme / no sense. ;)

As I'm starting it off, I'll give you a bit to work with.

There once was a tiny man,

Who lived in a rusty tin can,

He wanted to find a wife,

    To have a better life,

So he walked to the park,

    With his awesome pet shark...

  2. You already have a trade thread:

Please update/edit this one rather than creating another.

Edit: Have now unlocked this one on request and locked the other.

  3. My favourite pokemon are Sylveonand Vulpix.

My favourite ball is probably the Heal Ball, because it's cutest. Whilst googling the different types though, I did come across a 'Dream Ball'. I've never seen it before, but if it's real, that's my fave too. C:

  4. Can we try and keep this relevant and interesting. ::3:

I've done lots of stupid things in my life. But one of the stupidest was when we had loooads of snow and I was late for work so I started to run. Most of the snow was crunchy so it wasn't really slippy until I came to patch that had started to melt with thick ice underneath. I fell the full length of the pavement, but like, did the splits at the same time as my legs went in different directions lmao. It was pretty embrassing, especially cause I just sat there and cried in the snow. Now I always set off early, especially when it's icy/snowy. :P

  5. Pokemon Vortex Newbie Guide

If you are new to Pokemon Vortex, then this is the guide for you! Here I will briefly explain all the basics of the game such as catching and training pokemon (including legendries), gym battles, battling against other members, sidequests and events. If, after reading this guide, you still need some help feel free to join our chatroom or send me a personal message on the forums.

    Pokemon Types

Pokemon Vortex is home to some special kinds of pokemon. These include dark, mystic, shiny, metallic and shadow. Each type has a special feature.

Shiny CharmanderShiny has 25% more HP.

Metallic CharmanderMetallic has 25% more defense.

Dark CharmanderDark has 25% more attack power.

Mystic CharmanderMystic has a chance to ‘scare’ the opponent and cause it to miss.

Shadow CharmanderShadow will be immune to status effects once this is added.

    Catching Pokemon

As with all pokemon games, only wild pokemon can be caught. In order to catch pokemon you need to explore one of the five in game maps, each map has different pokemon and you can see which ones are where here: Pokemon Location Guide

Once you have found a pokemon on the maps, you may need to battle it before you can catch it. If you are using a pokeball, great ball or ultra ball you may need to weaken the pokemon first. However, a masterball has a 100% catch rate, so choose wisely! When battling a pokemon to catch it, it’s best to use a lower levelled pokemon with a weak move so that you don’t accidentally make it faint.

    Catching Legendary Pokemon

Legendary pokemon will appear on the maps after you have defeated all the gyms, elite fours, battle mansion and battle frontier. There is now a feature that tells you if you are eligible to catch legendries. You can find this by checking your in game profile. If you do not receive the notification telling you that you can catch legendary pokemon, check to see which badges you are missing.

Legendary pokemon are a little more difficult to find and catch than ordinary pokemon! Unless you are using a masterball, you will need to battle them first to weaken them. Be careful you don’t make them faint. Legendary pokemon may also take a while to find, this can range from a few minutes to a couple of hours, but do not be disheartened, they will show up sooner or later. Just don’t give up. ;) If it’s been quite a while, such as a few days, consult the previous tip and make sure you are actually able to catch them!

    Training Pokemon

Pokemon can be trained by battling wild pokemon and trainers. Every time a battle is complete you will earn experience points (EXP). Up until level 100, EXP will increase your pokemons level. After level 100, you can continue to gain EXP but your level will not increase.

Depending on the level of the pokemon you are battling, you will receive different amounts of EXP. Wild pokemon generally give out small amounts, whilst pokemon owned by trainers/gym leaders give out slightly more depending on level. Some players choose to battle ‘training accounts’ in order to gain exp. Training accounts are designed to be used by certain pokemon types (fire, water, dark ect) and as each pokemon is level 100 on these accounts, they give out the most possible exp. You can find out more here: Training Accounts

    Battling (Gyms, Elite Four ect)

Pokemon Vortex has a range of gyms, elite fours a battle mansion and battle frontier for you to challenge. As with other Pokemon games, each gym generally has a ‘type’ so keep this in mind when creating your team. They also range in difficulty, starting from easier gyms at the beginning of regions to gyms with higher levelled pokemon. It would be a good idea to train up several teams before taking on the challenge of beating all the gyms!

    Battling (Other Members)

Pokemon Vortex does not have a live battle system, but you can still challenge other members if you want to. In order to do this you can search for the player you would like to battle. However, the opponent will be computer controlled.

    Events

Every so often events will be held on Pokemon Vortex. The events can range from finding a special pokemon on the maps, to fulfilling a set of tasks. Event information will be put on facebook and on the Vortex forums so check there for more information. If you ever need additional help, consult the chatroom and someone will assist you.

(Gonna add buying & using items, evolving soon)

  6. I'm super happy that Pat, Chris and Rob are working so hard to fix the game. <3

I am particularly excited about the double EXP week, and whilst I was sad that I have lost a lot of exp training and level 100 progress I'm looking forward to earning this back plus a whole lot more. :D

I did manage to get a full pikachu set last time, but I will definitely be taking advantage of double happiness. ;) You guys know how much I love dat happiness.

I am prayin' for mystic volca when the game is back. :P A girl can dream haha.

This guide is aimed in particular at new and younger members, though veterans may still find it useful.

Hello and welcome to the 'Anti-Scam' guide. Here I will explain what 'scamming' is, how it is different to 'hacking', popular and recent scams and provide you with some top tips to keep your account safe. xD

    Pichu.gifWhat is a scam? Cleffa.gif

A scam is when people try to 'trick' you into giving them your account or your pokemon. When you are scammed, you are responsible for providing the scammer access to these things. This is different to 'hacking' where a hacker can gain access to your account without any participation on your part. Your Pokemon Vortex account cannot be hacked.

As previously mentioned, when you are scammed, no matter how convincing the scammer was, it is your responsibility to keep your account safe. If your account or pokemon are taken from you, don’t expect to get them back. Read this guide and avoid it in the first place.

    Account Partnerships

Recently, I have received an increasing amount of messages about people who are being scammed by their 'partners'. A partnership is where one or more people have access to the same account. Normally, you will receive a message from someone asking you if you would like to share an account. This person then asks for your password, which you give them so that you both have access. However, rather than working on the account, they log in and change the password therefore locking you out! You can avoid this scam by doing the following:

    1. Do not share an account with someone you don't know. If someone messages you asking to share your account, decline, no matter what they offer you. It is most likely they just want access to your account to steal from you. If they become abusive, ignore and report it.

    2. If you are going to share an account with a friend, suggest making a new account, rather than giving them access to yours. Then you do not risk losing anything.

Account partnerships can be successful, but be wary. Also consider how you will react if something goes wrong such as a botting partner, or one who decides to trade your prized pokemon without your knowing. These are things it would be wise to discuss.

    Giveaway Scam

You will all know that occasionally the Vortex admin are kind enough to run fabulous giveaways. :D Some scammers use that as an opportunity to try and scam you. You will receive a message that explains you have won a giveaway, but must reply with your password, or change your e-mail in order to claim it. This is NOT true. Vortex staff will never ask for your password. If you receive a message of this kind, report and ignore it.

    Lending Scam

This is another common scam, where someone will ask if they can ‘borrow’ a pokemon from you. They normally say that they need it to beat a gym leader or something similar. However, once they get the pokemon from you, they have no intention of giving it back. Be wary before lending pokemon to people you do not know. Occasionally, this is a genuine request, but more often they just want a free pokemon from you.

    Fake Representatives

Some users pose as a member of the pokemon vortex staff or admin, and make up a story where you need to give them your password or change your e-mail to a different one. Vortex staff will never ask for your password. If you receive a message of this kind, report and ignore it.

Togepi.gifTop Tips to keep your account safe. Igglybuff.gif

    1. Have a strong and secure password. Pokemon is not a good password, aDgh9876 is.

    2. If you have trouble remembering, and need to write your password down, write it down in a safe place.

    3. Do not give your password to anyone.

    4. If you log into your account on a public computer, make sure you log out once you have finished.

    5. Do not share an account with someone you don’t know.

    6. Do not change your e-mail to one that someone has asked you to change it to. They will be the owner of this e-mail address and then be able to request your password, which will go to their e-mail account.

Keep safe and have fun! If you are every wary or unsure, feel free to message me on the forums or in game. I’m always happy to help!
