  1. Do you guys understand how the lottery works?

    every time there is a complaint about the lottery, I post the same thing. except there is a new post every week.

    The number of tickets someone else buys does NOT affect your chances of winning. the only thing that affects your chances of winning is the number of tickets you buy.

    The chances of someone winning depends just on the number of tickets they have. The number of tickets others buy doesn't affect your chances of winning. This isn't a raffle. I would suggest reading the lottery wiki.
    When someone spends hundreds of millions buying tickets, the only thing it does is it increases the PD prizepool and the Pokedollars share that winning tickets get. It does NOT lower your chances of winning.

  3. Though I love the idea, I don't feel it would work as it removes a crucial part of gameplay/trading. Doesn't give the new players a shot at the leaderboard as well. Though I've felt that vortex has been more of a pokemon catching game, exp training has turned out to be a vital part as well.  As for the pros pointed out, this is my opinion about them.

    Pros:

    • It removes the risk factor of trading experience and later losing it because it turned out to be trained illegitimately. - People know what they're getting into when they trade exp in most cases, unless they're relatively new players. That's the risk they're willing to take for a shot at the leaderboard.
    • It creates an experience sink much like the PokéBay auction tax. - Something like a tax would be better instead of wiping out all the exp. Removing a chunk of the exp instead of the whole thing would be a better idea. A few players combine to train pokemon to a high exp as it's more convenient than a single player training it. Everyone profits this way when combining to train a pokemon
    • It stops mass trades/combining accounts to storm the leaderboards. - This discourages joint accounts and makes the leaderboard static. Everyone should be free to combine accounts if they want to go for joint accounts.

    These are my suggestions.

    1) A new leaderboard formula to reduce the effect of total or average xp as this is one of the major reasons for people going after xp/illegitimate xp. Maybe a bit more focus on whatever the trainer has trained on that account.

    2) Monitoring high exp trades from new accounts. This might be tough considering the number of accounts vortex has but creating a flag whenever exp over a certain limit is transferred from a new account might be a possible solution to identify such trades asap. Also monitoring the xp trained on new accounts if possible. Just throwing ideas tbh.

  4. I get it, more uniques give you more exp as long as they aren't dupes but at the end of it if you manage to get enough exp and battles with just one pokemon, that gets you enough points/ on the leaderboard. If you do not have any dupes, the number of uniques doesn't affect the points. The current formula ensures that people don't have dupes as dupes hurt your total points. Number of uniques matter only if you have dupes.

    The number of uniques under the current formula just ensures that you don't get any negative points while it doesn't exactly reward you. Even if someone completes the whole pokedex with varying exp on each pokemon, it will not matter against one really high exp pokemon with a high number of battles. For every unique pokemon that gets caught, it's actually the exp on the unique pokemon that counts instead of the pokemon itself. Agreed, it is easier to get 50k exp on a low level pokemon than getting 50k exp more on a level 100 pokemon but after a point, it is tough to find new unique pokemon as well. If the number of uniques are considered, it might promote trading or motivate people to spend time on the maps instead of just battling.

    My suggestion is to take the number of uniques into consideration as well instead of relying solely on number of battles and exp.

  5. The current formula is as follows:

    Key:

    t = Total Experience

    a = Average Experience

    u = Unique Pokémon

    b = Battle Count / (Wins)

    (t * a *  u * ln(b)) / 1000

    If the number of uniques is equal to the total number of pokemon (there are no dupes), this formula effectively becomes (t * t * ln(b))/1000. The number of uniques doesn't affect the total points.

    My suggestion would be add a bit more weight to the uniques count instead of having total points focused totally on how much exp a trainer has.
