1 Developer Patrick Posted May 19 Developer Share Posted May 19 If you're looking at a Pokémon you or someone else owns, the ball shown there is the ball that Pokémon was obtained in. If it's a generic Pokédex entry (such as when you click an evolution link while looking at an owned Pokémon), it will show a standard PokéBall and has no significance other than to mirror owned Pokémon's Pokédex entries.
