Answered Rarity of Shadow and Shiny Pokémon

So the wiki says that "Shadow/Shiny Pokémon are as rare as every other Pokémon that isn't Normal Variant."

However on Discord today, 3 players have said that in the past it has been confirmed that Shiny and Shadow Pokémon are actually more rare than other variants. Is this true? They said that despite what the wiki says, they're actually more rare.

The wiki information you mentioned is likely outdated.
As of a few months ago (I believe), shiny and shadow varieties were made slightly more rare than the other varieties.
The exact rarity is not known, and will likely never become known. However, Shiny and Shadow Pokémon being more rare than the others has been confirmed.

Yes, shadow and shiny are rarer then metallic, mystic and dark, and much rarer then normal.
That applies to all pokemons as well: common, uncommon, legendary and UB
