Although your idea is an interesting one, however it may give rise to some issues. As for someone who can't be on PV in the morning and comes online later won't be able to search for a specific pokemon they'd want to look for, as that may only be found during the day time. However for those who want their maps to change to the night maps when night approaches wherever they reside can do this manually.

You can find Darkrown in the Electric & Ghost maps at night. Mewtwo (Armor) is a donation only pokemon so you can not find it on the maps. However it isn't available at the moment but it will come back around in the future at some point.

I honestly wouldn't want it to be reset. Those that are very eager to start over should just make a new account and start fresh that way. As some have dedicated a lot of time to their accounts in order to get to where they are now. As a bunch of people have been playing the game for a lot more than just two months.
