Yeah the update has to do with forums shutting down for a while. From what I see I think the rankings have to do with the reputation people have given you and how many posts you have. For example look at @red_wolf_ he has the rank "Grand Master" looking at his numbers it makes sense he would have the highest ranking. -

Agreed the thing with scammers is once they succeed they dont stop even if they fail with their scam they wont give up people like matelinski or however you spell it dont go away. The solution is simple be careful if you run into them and be smart with your trades, ask a friend before giving up a Pokemon to make sure its fair and square. You can also look at previous posts about things to watch out when running into scammers. -
